Landing A Legitimate Job While You Stay At Home

Finding legitimate telecommute jobs is easy if you know where to look at and you understand the needs of employers. There are several sites that you can visit, listing several providers and some are from legitimate companies. One job I was able to secure was from a job bulletin site similar to Jobstreet and JobsDB. Using their search engine, I made a search using keyword of “Home-based Job”. I was then shown two (2) vacancies for teaching English proficiency from home. They required me to apply for the post and submit a comprehensive resume. One of the companies I applied for gave me a call and conducted a telephone interview for the post I applied for. Luckily, I passed the initial screening and was told that I would be given instruction at the beginning of the semester on January. They told me as well that I would be receiving a basic pay (on 15th and 30th of the month) every payroll period and my performance will be evaluated and monitored, similar to when I work full-time in a company.

Telecommuting is bringing the work to the place of employee instead of bringing the employee to the work place. Several companies now employ this work setup for several reasons. Some of are as follows:
1. They need to expand their work force but expansion means more capital expense for the lease of office space, purchase of equipments not only computers but also other work facilities.
2. Eliminating tardiness of employees as a result of city traffic when they commute to and from work place.
3. Getting lower manpower cost. Usually, telecommute jobs cost a bit lower compared to employing regular employees. Also, the need to insure employees as part of their benefit is not given to telecommuters.
4. And some other reasons and advantages to employers, as well as the employee who would prefer to stay at home and save time and effort spent on traveling or rather be at home to look after their children.

Telecommute Data Entry Jobs – Are They The Real Deal?

Telecommute Jobs
It is not surprising that data entry positions is one of – if not THE – most sought after telecommute jobs nowadays. The idea of sitting at home pressing keys and pushing buttons on the keyboard and getting paid for it is quite enticing.

Unfortunately, very few of these typing jobs are proven legitimate.

Data Entry Scams

It is not uncommon to get scammed when searching for online jobs of this type. If you’ve done a lot of searching, it becomes easier top spot them. Beware of websites with glowing testimonials from supposed employees earning thousands of dollars a week just typing at home. Of course, there’s the “minimal fee” to register to their program to show your willingness to immerse yourself in their “proven” get-rich-while-working-at-home system. Let’s be realistic now. First, there’s no easy money – well, not as easy as they purport; and second, you work to get paid, not the other way around – no self-respecting, legitimate employer would ask an employee for money before they hire you.

The internet is so full of this kind of scams that it makes you wonder if there is ever a genuine site with genuine jobs to offer. Luckily, the do exist. Hard to find amid all the scammers and schemers but they are there alright. You just need to be smarter to be able to identify the real from the scam. And here are two recommended course of actions that may prove helpful:

• Focus on individual companies rather than “mass hires”

Search for a job that allows telecommuting instead of looking for a “work at home” job. Sound alike? Not quite. In fact, there is a vast difference there and it’s not just semantics. Real companies with real job to offer don’t make a banner of the “work-at-home” aspect. There may be exceptions, but you will often find the “telecommute” feature greatly toned down in legitimate ads. They give emphasis instead on the details of the job itself and the qualifications of the likely candidates they are seeking to work for them. The telecommuting part is downplayed to something like, “by the way, telecommuting would be alright for the qualified person…” or words to that effect.

• Look for other forms of typing jobs

“Data entry” is like an umbrella term that covers a wide range of typing jobs. In short it means “entering data into a computer system,” which would include transcription, coding, and other administrative duties. When you search for telecommuting jobs online, try more specific keywords such as: administrative assistant, clerical, clerk, typing, transcription, coding, and so on. Companies may not be actually using those exact terms, but there are endless jobs that would be similar.

When the search results come up, scrutinize each ad very carefully and check whether telecommuting might be an option.
